Online Cultural Training Modules
The NSF recognizes the importance of including Indigenous peoples in Arctic science and research efforts. The following learning modules were created to provide researchers with foundational information as well as a general cultural orientation for working with Indigenous peoples in Alaska. They are freely available to encourage use across researchers and staff.
Module 1: Introduction to Alaska, Its Peoples, History & Context
Module 2: Introduction to the North Slope and Ethics in Research
Module 3: Introduction to Permits and Processes
Module 4: The Logistics of Working on the North Slope of Alaska
Each module will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.
